Uth Ink

Uth Ink Thunder Bay

Uth Ink gives youth the opportunity to journey through an artistic process with a professional playwright and an artist from their own community.

This “journey” is hosted by an arts organization within each community, which is administratively supported by Playwrights Guild of Canada and brought to the street by [murmur].

Uth Ink was first implemented in August 2007 in Etobicoke, Thunder Bay, Orillia, Ottawa and Sudbury.

ICAHEP facilitated the Uth Ink programming with local youth and local playwright Eleanor Albanese. The youth worked with Eleanor to create scripted stories about specific  locations around Thunder Bay, which were then recorded.  The stories can be found by visiting the locations (found on the map created by local artist, Alana Forslund), where signs have been installed.  At each of the places marked with a red dot on the map, you'll find a green Uth Ink sign. Use your mobile phone to call the number on the sign and when prompted, enter the four-digit code to listen to the Uth Ink play.

n addition, these plays have been published into an anthology entitled: Uth Ink: Plays from the Bay.
